Refund & Cancellation Policy

WeWander facilitates bookings between travelers and independent tour operators. Each tour has its own cancellation policy, set by the operator. This page explains how cancellation policies work and what to expect when requesting a refund.

1. Cancellation Policy Types

Key point: WeWander offers four standard cancellation tiers set by each operator: Flexible (full refund 24+ hours before), Moderate (full refund 7+ days, 50% refund 1–7 days), Strict (full refund 14+ days, 50% refund 7–14 days), and Non-Refundable. The policy is always displayed before checkout.

Flexible

  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour starts — full refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before — no refund.

Moderate

  • Cancellation 7+ days before the tour — full refund.
  • Cancellation 1–7 days before the tour — 50% refund.
  • Cancellation less than 24 hours before — no refund.

Strict

  • Cancellation 14+ days before the tour — full refund.
  • Cancellation 7–14 days before the tour — 50% refund.
  • Cancellation less than 7 days before — no refund.

Non-Refundable

  • No refunds are issued for any cancellations.
  • Typically used for private tours, special events, or high-demand experiences.

Some operators may also set custom cancellation policies with different timeframes and refund percentages. The exact terms are always shown before you confirm your booking.

2. How to Cancel a Booking

Key point: Go to your Trips page, find the booking, click "Cancel Booking," review the refund amount, and confirm. You receive an email confirmation once the cancellation is processed.

  1. Log in to your WeWander account.
  2. Go to your Trips page.
  3. Find the booking you wish to cancel and click "Cancel Booking."
  4. Review the refund amount based on the cancellation policy and confirm.

3. Refund Timeline

Key point: Credit/debit card refunds (Stripe) are processed within 5–10 business days. PayPal refunds are reflected within 3–5 business days. Refunds are always returned to the original payment method.

Once a cancellation is approved:

  • Credit/Debit Cards (Stripe): Refunds are typically processed within 5–10 business days. The exact timing depends on your bank.
  • PayPal: Refunds are usually reflected in your PayPal account within 3–5 business days.

4. Operator-Initiated Cancellations

If a tour operator cancels your booking for any reason (weather, insufficient participants, operational issues), you will receive a full refund regardless of the cancellation policy. WeWander will:

  • Notify you immediately by email.
  • Process the full refund automatically.
  • Help you find alternative tours if available.

5. Force Majeure & Exceptional Circumstances

In cases of force majeure (natural disasters, government restrictions, pandemics, etc.), WeWander and the tour operator will work together to offer you either:

  • A full refund, or
  • Rescheduling to an alternative date at no extra cost.

6. Partial Attendance & No-Shows

  • No-shows: If you do not show up for your booked tour without prior cancellation, no refund will be issued.
  • Early departure: If you leave a tour early for personal reasons, no partial refund will be issued unless the operator agrees otherwise.

7. Disputes

If you believe a refund was incorrectly calculated or you have a dispute regarding your cancellation:

  1. Contact the tour operator directly through the platform to resolve the issue.
  2. If unresolved, contact WeWander support at info@wewander.tours.
  3. We will review the case and mediate between you and the operator.
